Pediatric Vision Care

A comprehensive eye exam is recommended for all children before the age of 6.  Approximately 3% of children are at risk for amblyopia.

Amblyopia ("lazy eye") refers to poor vision development due a an untreated vision  problem or muscle alignment problem.  Fortunately, most cases of amblyopia can be treated successfully if diagnosed prior to the age of 6.

A comprehensive eye exam for a child includes:

  • Vision Testing at Distance and Near
  • Binocular Coordination
  • Muscle Alignment
  • Color Vision
  • Eye Movement and Tracking
  • Ocular Health Assessment (drops may be required)

If you suspect that your child has a vision or medical eye problem and is less than 4 years of age, we recommend that he/she be evaluated by a pediatric ophthalmologist.  Please contact our office so we may direct you to the appropriate provider.
